Astro Adventures

June 29 - July 2
Launch into MDM’s NASA Astro Camp this summer! Your students will explore how humans travel into outer space, test their hand at rocket science, tour the solar system, and journey light years away to visit the stars. Through hands-on experiments and activities your future astronauts will expand their knowledge of outer space while having a blast doing it.

Storybook Engineers

July 13 - July 16
Meet us in the museum library to bring your favorite storybooks to life! Using real world engineering, our campers will explore popular children's books through the lens of science! How can we save Humpty from his great fall? Can we build a house to protect the three little pigs from the big bad wolf? Explore these famous stories and so many more by building an ending to celebrate!

Mysteries at the Museum

July 20 - July 23

There’s trouble brewing at MDM! Campers will need to take it upon themselves to get to the bottom of a troubling tale of subterfuge and mystery as they hone their skills in espionage and disguise. Bring a spy thriller to real-life in this fun, action-packed camp that encourages cooperation and creativity through imaginative play, and catch those wrong-doers!

Get Ready and Grow

July 27 - July 31

Get the dirt on dirt and the scoop on all things underfoot. Find out about the secrets underground: worms, ants, plants, roots and even gemstones and minerals. Start your own wormery, plant your own mini garden, and learn how to really make flowers bloom! Mash up different kinds of clay to find out what kind of dirt makes the best art. If you can’t wait to roll up your sleeves and get digging and get a little dirty, this camp is for you!

Messy Art & Science

August 3 - August 6
Discover fun, messy, amazing, and very colorful art from science! Put on your safety goggles and painting smocks and get ready for slimy explosions, spinning colors, and blooming liquids. Explore why matter matters when you paint, what light has to do with color, how gravity works when you sculpt, how motion is a must and where chemistry and creativity come together through easy, imaginative art activities.

Oceans Full of Wonders

August 10 - August 13

Go above and below the waves to dive into the animals and plants who live in Maine’s ocean. Discover the secrets of breathing underwater, become an aquaculture farmer, learn about the colors of the sea, and come dissect one of the ooey gooey creatures found on Maine’s coast! Build, examine, experiment and play. No walking the plank in this camp, just lots of wet, watery fun.

Wonderbots!

August 17 -  August 20

Step into the ultimate robotics arena and become a coding champion! The wonder bots have just been chosen for the Robot Olympics, and they need the creativity and brainpower of your students to win gold. Participants will train the robots in sequences, loops, events, conditionals, functions, and variables. Prepare to cheer, coach our robots, and code your way to robotic victory as your students learn the exciting world of code.

Art & Ecology: Outside The Classroom

July 13 - July 16

This STEAM Ecology Summer Camp is a great opportunity for upper elementary and middle school students who love the outdoors to learn about and interact with nature through hands-on, interactive projects and experiences. Campers will have the chance to view the world through the eyes of a naturalist, and work on creative projects that explore sustainability, environmental adaptations, local Maine flora and fauna, and more. Daily hikes around the Caribou Bog Outdoor Center and surrounding area will provide campers with the opportunity to engage directly with the environment they are learning about, using it as an inspiration for their daily projects.
