The Maine Discovery Museum is a place where children and families learn through play and exploration. We appreciate the support of visitors, volunteers, partners, and staff in upholding our mission of engaging children and families in joyful discovery experiences. While in the Museum, we request all visitors adhere to the following principles and behavior:

Stay Home if Unwell

If you or anyone in your party does not feel well please stay home. If you have any symptoms consistent with the flu (influenza), COVID, or any other highly contagious diseases, we also ask that you please stay home.

 

Respect Your Fellow Visitors

We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. The Museum does not tolerate discrimination or any form of unlawful harassment, including but not limited to sexual harassment. Accordingly, the Museum absolutely prohibits harassment or discrimination based on ability, age, color, ethnicity, race, family or marital status, sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, pregnancy, and related medical conditions, language, national origin, political affiliation, religion, socioeconomic status, veteran status, health status, and other dimensions of diversity.

Unaccompanied Adults

Adults (16+) entering or visiting the Museum during operating hours without a child are required to leave a photo ID at the Admissions Desk. This policy is in place for the safety of all our visitors.

 

Face Coverings and Masks

MDM will require masks if communicable disease community levels reach a  levels of increased risk as monitored by the Maine CDC.

Wash Your Hands Frequently and Thoroughly

Hand-washing is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from getting sick.

​

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

​

Additionally

For the safety of all staff and visitors, all firearms and weapons are prohibited except for those carried by law enforcement and other approved security personnel. Smoking and/or vaping are also prohibited.
