Monday, April 15: Artists at Work!

Paint, draw, sculpt: Build a shadow box for your treasured collections, lay a colorful mosaic, create giant and tiny artwork and bring your imagination to life all day. Gold leaf a real picture frame, use fancy pastels and oil colors and get tips on how to capture a likeness. Explore texture and color to express your creativity through bold and beautiful art.

Tuesday, April 16: Welcome to My Castle!

Who wouldn’t want to live in a castle: peasants and craftsmen, knights and ladies; but what did they do all day? Come joust, feast, play, build and dress up. Lay siege with a mini catapult and learn medieval crafts like gilding and lettering. Build a cardboard castle model, make armor and shields, a family crest banner, a fancy headdress and finery for the great ball. Experience the daily life and fine pastimes of the days of knights in shining armor.

Wednesday, April 17: Culinary Sciences!

Cooking and chemistry come together as we pound dough, explore sugar crystal formation, watch sodium bicarbonate do its thing, and test foodstuff for vitamin C. Find out why foods taste sugary, salty or sour and why we like some and not others. Invent your own one of a kind treat. Don a chef’s hat, lab coat, & safety goggles, and whip up some delicious and unusual edible concoctions.

Thursday, April 18: Superhero Kids!

Invent your own secret superhero identity complete with costume and name! You and your team of fellow superheroes will outsmart the mysterious villains who hid the great museum treasure with your superhero powers of hearing, strength, and invisibility! A mix of cool science experiments and great live action challenge will make this day super unforgettable!

Friday, April 19: Oh Grow Up!

What do sunflowers, water bug larvae, chicken eggs, germ colonies, and salt crystals have in common? They grow! Do all plants grow in dirt? What food do bones need to grow stronger? Are bugs good parents? We’ll set up hydro gardens, crystal “trees”, mini greenhouses and more to explore the many ways things grow up and all around us!
