Niles Parker, Executive Director

Niles has been the executive director of the museum for the past 10 years. He has a great deal of leadership experience having previously served as the executive director for the Penobscot Marine Museum and the board chairman of the RSU 22 School Board. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colby College and a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from SUNY’s Cooperstown Graduate Program.

Autumn Allen, Director of Museum Services

Autumn joined the MDM team in 2012. She is passionate about improving visitor experience and development with local organizations. Autumn brings 12 years of business management experience to her position. She graduated from the New Mexico College of Natural Healing in 2003. She continued her education in Business and Nutrition at the University of Maine.

Additionally, Autumn is a certified personal trainer with a focus on youth fitness and nutrition. Autumn is excited about positive growth and development in the region with a specific focus on Downtown Bangor. Autumn enjoys dancing through Recollections when on the third floor at MDM.

Trudi Plummer, Director of Education

Trudi Plummer joined a brand new children’s museum in downtown Bangor in August 2001. It’s been a wonderful adventure! Trudi has over 30 years of experience in formal and informal education. She is passionate about seeking partnerships between education providers and about creating high-quality STEAM education opportunities for all children both in Maine’s communities and for families visiting the museum.

Before moving to the USA with her husband, she received her M.Ed from Julius Maximillian University in Wuerzburg, Germany. She taught at a small village school and led the “KiKiBu” project educational outreach to mountain communities in Northern Bavaria.

She lives with her husband Jon, an SVP at Bangor Savings Bank, Norman, their dog, and their kittens in Veazie. Trudi’s favorite places in the museum are Turtle Alley and the Dino Dig.

Lucas Lockhart, Education

Lucas joined the education team at the Maine Discovery Museum in January 2019. He has worked for the museum in the past as a summer camp and outreach educator. Lucas started working with children in both childcare and educational settings when he was in high school.

He has worked with Hermon Rec. Department, Bangor YWCA, Camp Molly Molasses, Stillwater Montessori School, Maine Bound, and more, both before and during his time in college. He graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with a degree in Elementary Education and a certificate degree in Museum Studies. After college, Lucas worked in public and private settings supporting children with disabilities.

He is extremely excited to be able to tie together all of his experiences, skills, and passions while working at the museum as an educator. Lucas lives in Bangor with his partner, his two creative daughters, their two rowdy pups, and two sneaky cats. He enjoys travel, tinkering on bicycles, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Tina DeMerchant, Finance Manager

Tina joined the staff of the Maine Discovery Museum in November 2011. She was first hired as a sub-contractor. She was so thrilled to be a part of the fun team here at MDM that she became an employee of the Museum within 6 months.

She comes to us with an Associate of Arts Degree in Bookkeeping and Office Administration. She has over 30 years of experience in bookkeeping and more recently with several non-profits. Tina lives with her husband and son in Old Town. She is the Treasurer for her son’s school PTC.
